It's All in the Stars . . . or the Numbers

Today's New York Post reports that second baseman Robinson Cano has agreed to switch his number from 22 to 24, leading to speculation that Roger Clemens may be heading back to the Bronx to don his old number 22.

Honestly, is this really going to get Roger Clemens to run back to the Yankees?  "His" old number is now available so Cashman's phone is going to ring?  C'mon!!  Am I to believe that if "his" number wasn't available, he would have jilted the Yanks and signed with Boston?  Not to mention, Clemens originally wore number 12 when he first arrived in New York.

I think it's going to take a different number, one with a bunch of zeros at the end, to lure the husky Texan back to the big city.

I assume that by "husky" you mean, steroid-abusing.

Not to mention, 21 is still available for the Redsox...

Brian, Clemons doesn't abuse Steroids, he takes just enough dosage to keep his fastball over 90...

Mike, are you trying to say Roger Clemens doesn't play for the pure love of the game but rather for money? What would Jerry McGuire say to that.

Do you like your pitchers like your women Mike, husky?

Jerry McGuire would say "Show me the money!"

And I do like my women with some junk in the trunk.
