Jets Ink Another Former First-Rounder

I'm now waiting for Joe Klecko to arrive in Jets camp.

The Jets signed another former first-round draft  pick from yesteryear by inking 32-year-old Andre Wadsworth today.  Wadsworth, the former defensive end of the Arizona Cardinals, hasn't played a down of football since the 2000 season.

Wadsworth was the third player taken in the 1998 draft after Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf.  He played only one full NFL season, his rookie year in 1998, before being plagued by knee injuries.

I suppose everyone should get a second chance in life (only if you're an athlete, of course) and the Jets aren't losing anything in looking at Wadsworth, but it seems like another strange move by Tannenbaum & company.  This signing must really have the free agent defensive linemen scratching their heads.

Also, in Jets news, the league put out a partial listing for the upcoming 2007 schedule.  Why can't they come out with the complete schedule -- who knows?  But, the Jets will make an appearance on Thanksgiving Day against the Dallas Cowboys.  The Jets haven't played on Turkey Day since 1985 (a 31-20 loss to the Detroit Lions) and playing in Dallas on that day is never easy.  Hopefully, the Jets will allow me to enjoy an extra slice of pumpkin pie instead of making me reach for a bottle of Brioschi.

I know the Jets are following the Patriots philosophy of the sum being greater than the parts, but come now. Who's next- Cedric Jones. I'm sure he's available.

Maybe they're holding out for Eric Dorsey.
