Igawa Notches First Win as Yanks Romp

He may technically be a rookie, but Kei Igawa has done this before.  In fact, he's done it 86 times

Igawa picked up his first victory in the Big Leagues Wednesday night and the Yankee bats continued their assault on Cleveland pitching as the Bombers blasted the Indians 9-2 in the Bronx.  Igawa is the second Yankee "rookie" to earn a win in as many nights.

The Good:

Kei Igawa.  Igawa's third start was the charm as he cruised through most of the game.  His only blip was in the third inning when he allowed 3 hits, 2 runs, hit a batter and uncorked a wild pitch.  So far, it looks like Igawa is good for at least one bad inning a start.  If he can keep the damage to a minimum he has an excellent chance to win ballgames.  His totals: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K.

Bobby Abreu.  "El Comedulce" got the Yanks on the board with a sac fly in the first and tied the score at 2-2 with an RBI single in the third.  He also swiped his third base of the season.

Jason Giambi.  Giambi had his second straight multi-hit game and drilled a homer in the sixth to cap the Yankee scoring.  The offense is starting to click and if Giambi finds his stroke it could spell doom for opposing pitchers.

Alex Rodriguez.  Alexander "The Great" conquers again!  A-Rod continued his torrid hitting and ripped another homer, a two-run shot, in the sixth.  He now has 9 homers and an eye-popping 23 RBIs.

The Bad:

This is really, really, really nit-picky, but I wanted to see Igawa go out for the seventh.  Even if he didn't make it out of the inning, it would have been a good opportunity for him to tip his cap to the fans as he exited.

The Ugly:

Top of the third.  Like a "BENNY"  playing a game of ring-toss at the boardwalk, Igawa flipped his glove at a flair off the bat of Ryan Garko.  Luckily, he didn't come close and Cano was able to start the inning ending double play.

"Business Man Special" at The Stadium on Thursday as Darrell Rasner and the Yanks go for the sweep against Fausto Carmona at 1:05 p.m.  Carmona comes in with a chunky 12.46 ERA.

I doubt the quick turn-around will affect the Yankee bats.
