Blogs by Fans Fantasy Baseball Update

We are a smidge more than a quarter through the baseball season and since the Yanks are off tonight, I thought I'd let everyone know where I stand in my fantasy baseball league.

I'm sure you are all waiting with bated breath.

For those who don't know, Brian  (depressed fan) received a fantasy baseball challenge and asked if I wanted to participate.  I accepted the challenge, but was away on "business" for the draft so my team was drafted for me.  Here is a rundown of my initial team.

I made some additions and subtractions during the season and the following players have been let go:

SS Bobby Crosby.  Crosby got off to a horrendous start and I was sick of waiting for him to break out of his slump.  Of course, he homered the first day I dumped him.

OF Mike Cameron.  I was hoping that Cameron would return to his power hitting, base stealing self this year.  I was wrong.

OF Juan Rivera.  Rivera has been on the DL the entire season.  Why would Yahoo draft me a guy who was on the DL at the start of the year?

3B Pedro Feliz.  Feliz is an OK option off the bench, but he didn't fit into my team's needs.

1B, 2B Jose Vidro.  Ditto for Vidro, although he's having a solid first year in Seattle.

SP Mark Prior.  Need I say anything?

SP Josh Johnson.  Another guy who hasn't sniffed the field yet this year.

I loaded up on pitchers so the following positions will not match.

The Additions:

SS David Eckstein.  Eckstein gives it his all, but he's not really tearing it up this season.

OF Geoff Jenkins.  Jenkins is streaky, but he's put up respectable numbers so far in 2007.

1B Richie Sexson.  Sexson is batting a mind-boggling .175 so far, but I'm waiting for him to break out.  He has to, right?  Until then, he's riding the pine.

SP Livan Hernandez.  Hernandez is having a solid season thus far and he's a guy you can count on to pitch over 200 innings.

SP  Ramon Ortiz.  I picked up Ortiz after his stellar 8 inning performance against the Yanks in April.  He hasn't pitched that well since.

SP Jarrod Washburn.  I was shocked that he was available on waivers.  He'd have more than 4 wins right now if he wasn't on the Mariners.

SP Randy Wolf.  Another guy that was unclaimed.  He's been my gem of the waiver wire.

So where does this team place me in a league of 16?  Drum roll, please.  Sixth.  Not too bad.  I was assigned a group of players and I have molded them into a team.  My team has a long way to go, but I'm optimistic about our chances.

If any General Managers are reading this and are in need of an assistant, please contact me.  I'll be more than willing to listen to an offer.
