DeSalvo Earns First Big League Win

This entry will be brief.

One of the "joys" of working overnight is being able to listen to the Yankees when they are on the left coast.  The Yanks had just scored their second run in the second inning when suddenly John and Suzy went silent.  At first I thought it was technical difficulties on their end, but no, it was on my end.

The Internet connection at my workplace went kaput Saturday night.

So, it would be dishonest of me to pretend like I listened to the Yankees 7-2 win over the Mariners.  Instead, I will just imagine how rookie Matt DeSalvo picked up his first win of his career.  I also see (by reading the box score, that is) that Jeter continued his hot hitting and that Matsui collected three hits.

Outstanding.

No good and bad rundown for tonight's game, but there is an ugly.

The Ugly:

Not being able to listen to the Yankees.  John and Suzy, you were missed.

I am therefore forced to look ahead to Sunday's rubber game.  Andy Pettitte will try and get the Yanks back to .500 (again) and will go against Horacio Ramirez.

I will be off on Mother's Day so there will be no chance of experiencing technical difficulties.

Well, you really only missed 2 exciting innings. DeSalvo was good, I'm impressed so far. He's gone 13.2 innings in his first two major league starts, and really keeps his pitch counts down. He's a little odd too, which I like.

He could be a keeper, but I'm going to wait until he pitches against a better lineup before I get too excited.

It still would have been nice to hear John and Suzy call the action.

I'm hoping DeSalvo becomes the Aaron Small of the rotation. A younger version, but someone who isn't expected to produce and just goes out and delivers quality starts.
