Washout in Chi-Town

The Yankees were rained out of their game Tuesday night in Chicago.  The White Sox and Yanks will play two on Wednesday.  No word yet on who will take the hill in Game 1, but I'm guessing it will be Mike Mussina followed by Chien-Ming Wang in the nightcap.

The Bombers made some roster moves on Tuesday as they sent lefty reliever Sean Henn down to Triple A and moved Jose Veras to the 60-day DL.  Ron Villone was called up from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (still gotta get used to that) to take Henn's place as the second lefty in the pen.  Villone would have become a free agent if they Yanks didn't add him to the roster by Tuesday.

Henn was solid early in the year, but has been terrible lately.  He leaves the Bronx with a record of 1-0 and an ERA of 5.19.

Villone was awful in the spring, but has put up solid numbers in the minors.  He's 0-1 with a 1.90 ERA and has 27 K's in 23.1 innings.  I don't expect him to produce those numbers in The Bigs, but at the very worst, he can be someone who can work three innings out of the pen and save on some wear and tear.

In other news, Roger Clemens seems to be ahead of schedule and may be ready to join the Yanks at the end of May, rather than the beginning or middle of June.  He could make his return in Toronto against the Blue Jays during a three game set starting on May 28.

I'm sure there will be constant updates regarding his timetable.
