Who?
You may not know him by name, but you know his work. Marty Miller was the newly appointed "director of performance enhancement" for the Yankees. In simpler terms, he was the conditioning coach. Key word there: was.
The Yanks gave Marty the boot on Wednesday, a day after phenom Phil Hughes popped his hamstring and was forced to leave the game against the Texas Rangers. Hughes' hamstring was just the latest in a rash of injuries that have assaulted the Yankees this year. So far this season, Mike Mussina, Chien-Ming Wang and Hideki Matsui have all spent time on the DL with hamstring injuries.
It was just a matter of time before Miller was shown the door. There's a problem when players opt out of a conditioning program set out by the new guy. There have also been some grumblings from veteran players regarding his philosophy.
Was Miller to blame for all of the Yankee injuries? No, but now the team has removed any doubt.

Marty Miller was a horrible trainer or "director of performance enhancement." Allegedly the man did not believe in running to help develop and strengthen leg muscles. Nice way to screw up a dream job, jerk face.
