Really, things could be worse.
At least, that's what I'm telling myself.

I was reluctant to write anything about Thomas Jones' injury, which occurred during the Jets Monday morning practice. In fact, I was ecstatic that Jones hadn't ripped up his ACL or torn his Achilles' heel. I mean, he fell in a heap without any contact. Scary stuff. Turned out
Jones strained his calf. OK, no biggie. Just wrap it up and we'll only use you for one series against the Vikes on Friday. Right?
But then I read how Jones, as stated through his agent, the classy Drew Rosenhaus, said he was "confident he would be ready" for the Jets opener against the Patriots.
What the hey?
Opening day is still nearly four weeks away. I'm not really sure how long you need to recoup from a calf injury, but four weeks seems like more than enough time if it isn't serious. I wish the team would disclose a bit more information, but you'd have a better chance of uncovering who shot JFK than getting any injury info out of Mangini and company.
The reason the Jets were so successful last season was due, in large part, to staying healthy.
I hope this injury isn't a harbinger of things to come for Gang Green in 2007.

TJ scared me good. I don't know, I hear Michael Turner is available. Just a thought... Discuss....
