Lawsuits and Staying the Course

I suppose it was just a matter of time.

This stupid videotaping story just won't go away.  A Jets season-ticket holder has filed a class-action lawsuit against the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick for fraud.  What's the amount, you ask?  A whopping $184 million.  Where the hell did that amount come from?  It was calculated that Jets season-ticket holders paid $61.6 million to watch eight games against the Pats since Belichick became their head coach in 2000.  Under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act, or RICO Act, and the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, you are entitled to triple the amount.

Oh, by the way, the Jets season-ticket holder -- he's a lawyer.

Unreal.

In other Jet news, defensive coordinator Bob Sutton has decided to "stay the course" with the 3-4 alignment.  Oh man, I don't like the sound of that.  These words have been beaten to death, but the Jets are just better suited for the 4-3.  They just aren't big enough up front and Jonathan Vilma isn't allowed to be a play-maker as an inside linebacker.  There have been only two players on D that have benefited from the switch, Bryan Thomas and Kerry Rhodes.  Still, that's no excuse for the way the defense has been playing through three games this season.

The Jet defense will get another test in Buffalo against a mammoth Bill offensive line.

I just wish Sutton used a different phrase.

To say that the Bills are beat up would be a gross understatement.  Buffalo lost QB J.P. Losman and LB Paul Posluszny last week against New England (that team is always in the news!) and have already placed CB Jason Webster, FS Ko Simpson and OL Jason Whittle on IR.  The Bills were even forced to clear out TE Kevin Everett's locker to make room for the new players.

That's tough.

Rookie quarterback Trent Edwards will get the call for Buffalo.  Expect to see a ton of rookie running back Marshawn Lynch on Sunday.  Willis McGahee may be gone, but the Jets have allowed over 100 yards on the ground in every game so far this season.  I wouldn't be surprised if they gave the kid the ball 40 times on Sunday.

Here's a good breakdown for Sunday's game from a Bills perspective.

There are no gimmies in the NFL and divisional games can always go either way, but the Jets should come away with a win on Sunday.

Let's see what happens.
