Pennington Back in Charge

Well-ity, well-ity, well-ity.  Looks like it's a Back to the Future of sorts for the Jets.

According to Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger, Chad Pennington will get the start on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.  This is according to two people with knowledge of the team's plans.  The Daily News also confirms that No. 10 will get the nod.

Why are the Jets keeping things so hush-hush?  Your guess is as good as mine.  The team is 3-11 and their starting quarterback for the past 5+ games was knocked out of Sunday's tilt at New England after only two plays.  For some reason, it was reported during that contest that Kellen Clemens didn't return to action due to a "coach's decision."  Yeah, right.  If you watched the game you could plainly see that Clemens could barley walk after he absorbed that shot.  It also looked like the second-year quarterback from Oregon suffered a left shoulder injury on the play instead of the reported rib injury.  Maybe Clemens injured both.

Whatever the real injury, Clemens' season could be over.  There are only two games left for the Gotham Green and it would be folly to put a young guy out there when he's obviously hurting.

And so what's old is new again.  Pennington will most likely get two more chances to show everyone what he's made of.

And probably two more chances to show some of the quarterback-hungry teams in the NFL that he can still be a starter in this league.
