Brett Favre Traded To Jets

Sweet merciful crap!

It looks like the soap opera that is Brett Favre is headed to the Garden State.

The deal reportedly calls for the Jets to give up one draft pick that increases in value depending on how the Green and White do in 2008.  Gang Green will also most likely waive goodbye to Chad Pennington and his $7.8 million contract.

I am in stunned disbelief.  This news has totally blindsided me.  I already made my feelings known on this issue here and I'm not ready to change my mind.  And I was just getting ready to turn in for the night.

How am I suppose to catch any shuteye now?

I'll take it! If the Diva; I mean Brett Favre, can get into game shape and IF he can play at the level he played at last year, the Jets are a serious playoff contender. Kudos for a very busy off-season.

I'm still in shock. Again, it's a good deal on paper, but I don't know if Favre is ready to take the reins for the Jets.

I understand not wanting this trade, especially since Chad is such a warrior and likable guy. I feel bad for Chad because I like him and I think most Jet fans treated him disrespectfully. I guess let hindsight take over. If the Jets have a successful season (go to playoffs) and Favre is a big part of it, no one will care who the quarterback is. If he stinks and they go 4-11, well, it was a lousy deal. At least he still has green in his uniform.

You're right, Pennington never got the respect he deserved, but this is a business (even though I hate looking at it like that). To be honest, I was surprised they kept him after last season. But what's done is done. I hope Favre can live up to expectations.

I predict the Jets will double their win total from last year, but thats it. No playoffs (and still the #2 team in NY).

8-8, huh? That's what I thought they'd finish with either Pennington or Clemens at the helm (of course, that's before I slip on my green tinted shades).

And I'm not looking to be the No. 1 team in NY (NJ), Geno. I want to taste ultimate victory and be the No. 1 team in the NFL!!

I can't understand why anyone would not want this trade. aside from the fact that favre is a major improvement at the position and the team is better as a result, it's a great business decision for the team. merchandise sales will go up,there's immediate interest in the jets from people who normally wouldn't care; let's not forget they need to fill seats in a new stadium as well, not to mention merchandise sales have already been lucrative. all this for a 4th rounder if it's a bust and a 1st rounder for a superbowl appearance. sounds like a GREAT deal to me. where do i sign up? there's been time that i would have offered my left testicle for the jets to be in the superbowl in my lifetime. worst case scenario; brett's a bust and they go back to status quo with clemens. no flag no foul!

I don't give a damn about merchandising or the interest from people who wouldn't normally care about the Jets. And Favre will be long gone by the time the new stadium opens up. Forget about Clemens -- if they believed in him they wouldn't have made this trade in the first place.
