NFL upholds Smith's Suspension

No surprises there.

The league denied Eric Smith's appeal to a one-game suspension and $50,000 fine for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Arizona Cardinals wide out Anquan Boldin during a Week 4 contest at the Meadowlands.

I still don't agree with the suspension, but what can you do.  On a purely football level, the suspension shouldn't really hurt the Jets that much.  Smith hasn't distinguished himself in the secondary this season and it will give Abram Elam a chance to prove he's more than just a special teams player.  Elam appeared in 13 games for Gang Green last season and hits hard, but has a tendency to lose his cool (throwing a punch during a game last season) and be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Show us what you got, Abram.
