It's a day late, but I don't care.
It was 40 years ago yesterday (Jan. 12) that Joe Namath and the New York Jets shocked the football world and defeated the Baltimore Colts 16-7 in Super Bowl III. Matt Snell scored the Green and White's only touchdown and Jim Turner booted three field goals as the American Football League bested the big, bad National Football League for the first time and changed football's landscape forever.

I wasn't around for the greatest victory in Jets history, but I'll put up some pictures to commemorate the occasion anyway. And in case you're curious, the gift for a
40th anniversary is the ruby. Oh, it's for wedding anniversaries, but if you're a sports fan, you know the relationship you have with your team is very much like a marriage. Why the ruby? Here's why:
Because rubies are thought to possess an eternal inner flame which is a
symbol that the passion in a marriage is still very alive and strong
after 40 years together.
Makes sense to me.

I just hope I'm still around the next time the Jets are crowned champions of the football world.

Happy Anniversary! C'mon, Super Bowl III doesn't feel that long ago.
